Working with Benjamin Teague it becomes evident that he is a person with a sensibility for things. By “things” I mean physical objects in space. But his sensibility is not just for the physicality of physical things — the form, the color, the texture, of which he is a careful master — his sensibility is deeper. It is psychological and emotional, reverential and referential.
Ben naturally presents every object as a character and in his visual presentation we somehow always intuit a story. It’s never forced. Perhaps it is not even complete. Yet, it lingers in the mind. Like a note.

Benjamin Teague is a Pontiac-based/ itinerant ceramicist who has studied extensively under both European and Japanese masters.
Over the past two decades, the on-going evolution of Teague’s practice has been influenced by the dichotomous yet fluid relationship between these two worlds. With great attention to the technical and formal aspects of his craft, Teague’s process is also shaped by his quiet observation of the world around him and the physical and emotional boundaries of the objects he creates.
