Nina Cho

is an artist and designer, currently based in Detroit, USA. Nina was born in the United States and raised in South Korea. She earned an MFA in 3D Design at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. Her personal background has naturally led her to a minimal and simplified aesthetic.

Nina Cho has been recognized as an Honoree of Sight Unseen’s 2015 American Design Hot List, presented in partnership with Herman Miller and featured as one of Five Breakout Designers of 2015 in Artsy based in the USA. She was nominated for the Pure Talents Contest at Imm Cologne in 2016. She has been invited to shows nationally and internationally in 2016, including exhibitions in London, Cologne, Milan, Frankfurt, Toronto, Seoul, Detroit and New York City.

Cho’s personal background has naturally led her to a minimal and simplified aesthetic. She has focused on reductive forms that blur the line between an art object and a functional product. She pursues ideas of lightness and reduction in her work. Colors, shape, and material must be essential to the piece and complete the work.

I.M. Weiss Gallery is the only retail and exhibition platform for Nina Cho's work in the Midwest.
